top 10 nintendo 64 games

On September 29th, 1996 the Nintendo 64 was released to the public. It’s my favorite console of all time next to the PS2. Since back in the 1990’s N64 games could cost up to $90, I didn’t get a chance to play all of the N64’s library but here are some popular games I’ve missed.

10. Star Fox 64/Lylat Wars

Star Fox 64 Lylat Wars

One of the most Addictive games of all time. So much replay value in its 2-hour story mode.

9. Mario Kart 64

Mario Kart 64

My favorite racing game on the N64 system. I spent an hour on end trying to find all the cool shortcuts in the tracks. The game is still so popular and Mario Kart will be released as mobile app for all Android and iOS phones in March 2019.

8. The Legend Of Zelda: Ocarina Of Time

The Legend Of Zelda Ocarina Of Time

To be honest I never played this game when I was a little kid. It wasn’t until I was 15 that I found this copy at my local game store and picked it up for $30. Graphics is not like in Breath Of The Wild or A Link Between Worlds sequels, but it was just as great as everyone said it was. Though I could do without the water temple.

7. Super Smash Bros

Super Smash Bros

The best fighting game on the System I poured Dozens of Hours into this gem. Unlocking every character was a difficult task but it was so worth it. fun fact Master Chief’s voice actor is the announcer who screams Super Smash Bros in the title sequence.

6. James Bonds 007: The World Is Not Enough

The World Is Not Enough James Bond

Second outing on the N64 was a great one, unlike the inferior PS1 version the N64 version had much more variety and replay value.

5. Super Mario 64

Super Mario 64

The very first game I played on the Console when I was 5, Super Mario 64 was revolutionary. If only it wasn’t for the annoying camera then this would be even better.

4. The Legend Of Zelda: Majora’s Mask

The Legend Of Zelda Majora’s Mask

My favorite Zelda game to date. It gave you the power to transform into 4 different species in the Zelda world. Top that off with incredible music and the best use of the N64’s Expansion pack and you have a game that will stick with you for many years.

3. GoldenEye 007

Goldeneye 007

One of my favorite shooters ever goldeneye is still to this day crowned as one of the best first-person shooters ever made. With its large variety of game modes and objectives as well as a kick-ass multiplayer mode, Goldeneye is the bond game to beat.

2. Donkey Kong 64

Rareware’s best game to date in my opinion. I put so many dozens of hours into this game. With a wealth of content and incredible unlockables, this game has everything you could want in a platformer. It would be my favorite platformer of all time if it weren’t for this next game.

And the winner is…

1. Rayman 2: The Great Escape

Rayman 2 The Great Escape

My favorite game ever next to Kingdom Hearts. Rayman 2 has everything that you could possibly want in a platformer. Challenging yet fair level design, a great story, top this off with some of the most memorable characters and music in any game to date and you have a masterpiece.

My only complaint isn’t really with the game, it’s with the PS1 version of the game. The ps1 didn’t have an analog controller so developers had to radically change the game to better suit the D-pad. If you’ve played this game on PS1 and hated it my advice is to play the N64 version because that is the definitive version of the game.
