Nintendo has given current delivery figures for the Switch and the 3DS. Besides, there is a forecast for the current financial year.
Nintendo has given current delivery figures. By March 31, 2018, the switch had been delivered 17.79 million times worldwide. For a console that’s only been on the market for a year, that’s anything but evil. By comparison, the Wii U has just been delivered 13.56 million times over the years.
Otherwise, it was confirmed that the Switch software comes to 68.97 million units. Particularly successful are “Super Mario Odyssey” (10.41 million), “Mario Kart 8 Deluxe” (9.22 million), “The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild” (8.48 million) and “Splatoon 2” (6.02 million). The 3DS has been delivered 72.53 million times so far. The 3DS software is 364.89 million copies, including Pokémon Ultra Sun and Pokémon Ultra Moon (together 7.51 million).
The Super NES Classic Edition with its 5.28 million units has also performed very well. In the current financial year, which ends on 31 March 2019, Nintendo plans to deliver another 20 million switch consoles. That would then total 37.79 million units after two years on the market. 3DS is expected to grow by four million during this period.
In announcing the figures, Nintendo also revealed that Representative Director Tatsumi Kimishima and President of Nintendo would retire on 28 June 2018. Shuntaro Furukawa will take over his post.
