When it comes to Dragon Ball Z video games (the List), the gamer’s first reaction is:”Another one?!”. This is not surprising, because after several Budokai, Budokai Tenkaichi and Xenoverse parts, Dragon Ball Fighter Z is now on the market. In the latest Dragon Ball game, the publishers (this time Arc System Works – Guilty Gear, BlazBlue) return to 2D – much like Budokai 2 did on PlayStation 2 more than a decade ago.
The game is currently being developed for Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and the PC. The beta will take place from 14th to 16th January on the PS4 and Xbox One. Players with early-access will be able to access the beta on January 13th. For a full version of Dragon Ball Fighter Z, the fans have to wait until February.
Since everyone knows the Dragon Ball Z Story inside out, the only question is: “Which characters are playable?” This question has so far been answered only superficially. So far, only the following 11 characters are known in the upcoming beta:
- Android 18
- kid Buu
- adult Gohan
In the newest trailer, you could see Adult Gohan live in action. But there are now videos of all the other characters that will be playable in the beta. The characters themselves will be rendered in full 3D, while the map will only be displayed in 2D. The fighting system follows a 3 against 3 – similar to Marvel vs. Capcom.
Whether Dragon Ball Fighter Z will also be released for the Nintendo Switch is still in the stars. Up to now, publishers have only assumed a PC, Xbox One and PlayStation 4 version of the game. How many characters will be present in total, if there are any kind of micro-transactions and how the online mode is implemented in Dragon Ball Fighter Z can only be guessed so far. But at the latest with the official release, we will report more.
